I came across that picture somewhere and frankly except that the terrain looks vaguely familiar, I don't know where it is.
It is definitely Canadian although, if I recall, the picture came up on a site with photos of Abrams. To my eye that's a Leo 1.
As a former public affairs officer, there were always guys around with stories from the branch they'd started out in. I entered and exited as a PAO.
There was one ex-armoured type who, many insisted, had decided to switch careers after just such a bogging episode. According to the story, undoubtedly exaggerated in the mess over the years, said officer had been found as a young subaltern standing on the cupola of his centurion. The only thing visible of the tank was the top bit of the cupola.
It was politely suggested he might try an alternative line of work.
I gather that some armoured officers found alternative employment until much later in life.

Man if that's Gagetown, I bet you it's that crazy lake at the top of a ridgeline.
I'd hate to be the one hooking up the towline.
Brings back some memories!
