Politics and Language in Newfoundland, Corner Brook version

Someone writes a letter to the Western Star commenting on Danny  Williams’ use of language.

Some members of The Fan Club take issue in predictable ways.

More comments follow, pro and con.

Fascinating.

Here is a really crazy idea. I will admit its has a 99.999% probability of being false. What if the cuts in Flowers cove were planned for political purposes. What if the premier knew Trevor Taylor was leaving. So he took something away from his district. A by-election is called. Just as quickly its given back. The lewisporte cuts could have been there to give legitimacy to it. If they knew there was trouble ahead, they may have used these issues to influence the votes. None of these cuts made any sense at all. There is something shady going on with all the resignations.

With a story like that, you should be writing sit-coms not anonymous comments.

if the thing makes no sense to you, why not just accept that none of it makes sense rather than come up with a crazy idea?

Maybe it doesn't make sense because it never made sense.

There is something to the resignations - shady might not be the right word - but I think you are ioverlooking the simplest explanation:

Just accept the idea that the whole thing is just totally off the wall and that some people are, to paraphrase Jerome!, just making it up as they go along.

Once you accept that, you should take appropriate action when the opportunity presents itself.
