Watton to carry Liberal banner in Humber West

Corner Brook native Mark Watton wants to represent the people of Humber West in the House of Assembly.

He has the Liberal nomination.

And he’s got a pretty good line:

…do people want a PC government that’s going to be one seat bigger or do they want a PC government that’s going to be one seat more accountable?

Mark , I can't vote in the Humber West district but, I have plenty of family and friends .

This is the best news I have heard all week .

That is, I have to admit, not a bad line at all. Whether or not it works, we'll see. But if Watton wins that seat, I'll hear the heads popping from up here in the Tory caucus.

Well, Corner Brookers can't lose if they opt to go with an opposition candidate this time. They still have a big cabinet player and they also get to put someone in opposition who can bring push to make sure things get done.

I wish Mark the best. He's a fine candidate and I hope the people of Humber West recognize what they have here and make the change from another government member in an already inflated caucus, and hence lopsided legislature, to a member as experienced and savvy as Mark, who in an elected capacity as an opposition member, will work to hold this government to account.

Bonne chance!

I am really suprised that he is running.....I hope he wins!

This is great news for the Liberal Party if elected. Whatever the outcome, I hope he keeps the team together for October.

He is running, just as you predicted Murphy.

that couldn't happen...then we could actually have an adult conversation about what's going on around here.

There are a lot of people in this district who previously voted for Williams, who have been margionalized, disenfranchised and snubbed. They are disalusioned with the PC Party’s exclusiveness and lack of openness, transparency and accountibility. If Mr. Watton is willing to work at it, I think he can get the vote of many of those voters in the district.
