Dunderdale Translator: expert edition #nlpoli

Kathy Dunderdale speaks her own language.

She uses words in a different way from the rest of the population.  Take the word “expert”, for example.  Dunderdale claims that she would welcome any expert opinion that contradicts her current plan to rack up billions of dollars in debt building Muskrat Falls.

Most people would accept this definition of an expert:

A person who has a comprehensive and authoritative knowledge of or skill in a particular area.

Plenty of experts have come forward to offer detailed and insightful criticism of her plan.

They have challenged everything from the demand forecasts to Dunderdale’s persistent false statements about what experts have said about Nalcor’s demand forecasts.

They have proposed cheaper alternatives to Dunderdale’s debt plan.

She has ignored them, ridiculed them or attacked them.

That’s because Kathy’s dictionary has this definition of what an expert is:

Expert (noun):  1.  Anyone who works for Nalcor.  2.  Anyone who agrees with an opinion offered by a Nalcor employee.  3.  Anyone whose opinion can be misrepresented to support an opinion offered by a Nalcor employee.

You can understand how people make very bad decisions despite their good intentions.
