The Office of Steve Kent

26 public meetings.

More than 1,000 people showed up for them.

More than 28,000 people used the government website that the folks at the Office of Steve Kent call an app to make it sound more impressive to the punters.

Another 700 ideas arrived by email, fax, or carrier pigeons.

And...

Not a single new idea appeared in the entire lot that we haven't heard a dozen times in the past 25 years.

Some of it would save pennies.

Some of it would save nothing at all.

Some of it -  like suggesting government give people a cash incentive to retire - came from folks close to retirement who just want out early.  It's called self-serving nonsense and it doesn't help the government deal with the current mess.

That's because the entire "consultation" process was never designed to produce meaningful results.

It's just a dog and pony show.

If the crowd running the place wanted to save money they could shut down the Office of Steve Kent. Like it's former minister, the whole place does nothing productive anyway.
